Carrick hints Manchester United may offer Harry Maguire a new deal
Michael Carrick has suggested Manchester United may offer Harry Maguire a new contract as the defender's current deal expires at the end of the season. Maguire is keen to remain at Old Trafford and has returned to favour since Carrick succeeded Ruben Amorim. Since Carrick took charge United have gone unbeaten in six matches, winning five and drawing one, with victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.
Maguire has started all six games, playing the full 90 minutes in five, and has produced some of his best displays under the head coach. On Maguire's form and future Carrick said 'Harry's an impressive character. He's had a great career so far and hopefully there's a lot more to come,' and stressed the value of experience, adding that 'it’s hard to put a price on how valuable that can be' and that 'Harry has gained an awful lot of experience with this club.' He also suggested 'there is a case (for that)' that Maguire may be better than ever.
