CES 2026 is underway in Las Vegas, with the show floor open to the public after a packed couple of days of press conferences from the likes of Nvidia, Sony and AMD and previews from Sunday’s Unveiled event, and AI at the forefront of many companies’ messaging. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang delivered a lengthy presentation introducing the Rubin computing architecture, which the company says is being developed to meet increasing computation demands and is set to begin replacing the Blackwell architecture in the second half of this year; Rubin comes with speed and storage upgrades, and Senior AI Editor Russell Brandom goes into the nitty-gritty.

Nvidia also showcased its Alpamayo family of open-source AI models and tools that it says will be used by autonomous vehicles this year, an approach Senior Reporter Rebecca Bellan says mirrors the company’s broader efforts to make its infrastructure the Android for generalist robots.

AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su delivered the first keynote of CES, featuring partners including OpenAI President Greg Brockman, Fei-Fei Lei and Luma AI CEO Amit Jain. Senior Reporter Rebecca Szkutak detailed AMD’s approach toward expanding the reach of AI through personal computers using its Ryzen AI 400 Series processors.

Other notable announcements included Hyundai and Boston Dynamics revealing work with Google’s AI research lab to train and operate Atlas robots and a new Atlas iteration shown on stage, according to Transportation Editor Kirsten Korosec.
