CES 2026 spotlights extreme TVs, new AI platforms, robots and odd gadgets
CES 2026 is underway and ZDNET reporters are tracking launches from major consumer electronics brands including Samsung, LG and Hisense, alongside concept devices and unusual gadgets from smaller companies. On the TV front, TCL showed the X11L with a Super Quantum Dot Mini LED panel that the company says hits 100% of the BT.2020 color gamut, offers 20,000 dimming zones and up to 10,000 nits; ZDNET noted the smallest 75‑inch model is priced at $7,000.
LG reintroduced an ultra‑thin Wallpaper TV with a 165Hz panel and Zero Connect wireless support, though the company has not confirmed final price and availability and only hinted it will sit among its premium OLEDs. AI and robotics drew heavy attention: Motorola and Lenovo unveiled Qira, described as a fused knowledge base that links device interactions and documents to perform tasks; Roborock previewed the Saros Rover, a two‑legged vacuum that can climb stairs; and Nvidia announced its Rubin AI architecture and the Vera Rubin Superchip, which the company says could ship in late 2026 and deliver large performance gains over the prior generation.
CES also featured eclectic items such as Lava Star’s bone‑conduction Lollipop Star, priced at $9, and other hands‑on concept devices.
