Collider reports that The Moment, directed by Aidan Zamiri and starring Charli XCX, premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and opens in theaters on January 30, 2026.

The mockumentary is set in an alternate September 2024 after Charli’s album "brat," and follows industry maneuvers—from a lime-green "brat" credit card aimed at queer fans to a concert film led by Johannes (Alexander Skarsgård) that clashes with Charli’s creative director Celeste (Hailey Benton Gates). The film was co-written by Charli XCX, Aidan Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, runs 103 minutes, and features supporting turns from Skarsgård, Gates and Jamie Demetriou, plus brief appearances by Rachel Sennott and Kylie Jenner.

The review praises Charli’s first lead role and singles out Skarsgård and Gates, but calls the film scattered and reluctant to fully embrace its absurd premise, with stretches that don’t always land. It also notes Zamiri cited Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan as an influence; nonetheless, the film is presented as a strong showcase for Charli, who may yet take on roles beyond versions of herself when the film opens on January 30, 2026.
