Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Women's Super League, beating Tottenham 2-0 to protect their hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League. Goals from Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson lifted the Blues into third place with seven games remaining.

Spurs were the better side in the first half and Olivia Holdt rattled the bar, but a lack of clinical finishing proved costly. Six minutes before the interval Walsh produced a rasping half-volley through a sea of bodies to open the scoring, after an earlier Walsh pass to Johanna Rytting Kaneryd had forced goalkeeper Lize Kop into action.

Chelsea improved after the break: Thompson's emphatic finish five minutes into the second half put the game firmly in the Blues' control, and although Cathinka Tandberg should have reduced the deficit later on, the victory was effectively secured. The result followed the club's announcement that Sonia Bompastor had signed a new contract until 2030; Bompastor made key half-time changes that steadied her side.
