Chernobyl Returns to the VOD Charts Years After Its Emmy Wins
Craig Mazin’s breakout TV project has resurfaced on the streaming charts: Chernobyl, the 2019 HBO miniseries, recently entered the Apple TV Store Top 10 at number six, positioned between Halt and Catch Fire and Vigil. The limited series, which consists of five episodes, first put Mazin on the map before he moved on to other high-profile projects.
The drama revisits the 1986 explosion of Reactor No. 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and follows government officials and emergency services as they grapple with misinformation, contain the fallout and try to prevent further catastrophe. Jared Harris leads a cast that includes Stellan Skarsgård, Emily Watson, Jessie Buckley, Adam Nagaitis, Con O'Neill, Adrian Rawlins, Ralph Ineson, Barry Keoghan and Michael McElhatton.
Critics and audiences embraced the series: it holds a 95% critics' score and a 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
