TMR may be the future of magnetic keyboards, but Cherry feels a little too early to that future—and a lot too expensive. The white Cherry Xtrfy MX 8.2 Pro TMR TKL costs $250, is a tenkeyless board, and leaves a stronger second impression than a first thanks to a garish white, blue and silver aesthetic topped with a vaporwave logo.

It is undeniably a very firm bit of kit: a sturdy top plate with no flex, a hefty weight, and double-shot PBT keycaps that produce a satisfying thock. The board includes five-layer sound dampening that gives typing a softer quality, though being TKL it lacks a number pad and there are no dedicated media keys.

TMR delivers faster response times, lower battery consumption, and higher sensitivity, and Cherry claims 0.01 mm precision. The keyboard supports Dynamic Keystroke with up to four actions per key from 0.1 mm to 3.2 mm, plus snap tap and rapid trigger. Battery life is up to 300 hours in Bluetooth mode but shrinks in 2.4 GHz and higher polling-rate modes.
