Chet Hanks says he's stuck in Colombia after passport issue
Chet Hanks says he is stranded in Medellín after a passport technicality. In an Instagram video he said he had traveled to Puerto Rico for his “home Max’s birthday party” and then took a detour to Medellín to visit a friend named Taylor. He explained he was traveling on his Greek passport because he is a dual citizen and declined to use his U.S.
passport since it is about to expire. At check-in for an international flight he was told that using a foreign passport requires a green card to re-enter the United States; Hanks said he does not have a green card because he is an American citizen, so he is “literally stuck in Colombia.” He added that the only embassy that can resolve the issue is in Bogotá, about an hour away by air, and joked, “Free me.” Followers offered advice and jokes, including suggestions to FedEx a passport and references to his father’s role in Cast Away.
