Chicago special education teacher last seen after leaving for acupuncture appointment
According to People, Linda Brown, a 53-year-old Chicago special education teacher, was last seen on Jan. 3 after leaving home for an acupuncture appointment, her husband said.
A missing-persons bulletin from the Chicago Police Department said Brown was last seen in the area of the 4500 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and may have been driving a blue Honda Civic with Illinois plate CX57470. A flyer posted by the Chicago Teachers Union said she was headed to the Wicker Park area for the appointment and never arrived; her husband Antwon Brown confirmed that to WMAQ. Antwon told WMAQ that Linda had her phone and purse with her when she left but relatives were unable to get in touch with her. Authorities described her as 5 feet 0 inches tall and 130 lbs., with brown hair and eyes, and the Chicago Police said in its bulletin that "she may be in need of medical attention."
Antwon told NBC affiliate WMAQ, "I am terrified," and "I am just shaking. I need my wife home." He also told ABC affiliate WLS, "I don't know what to do. I did everything. We got police detectives out. Everybody's looking." Brown teaches at Robert Healy Elementary, was scheduled to return to work on Monday, Jan. 5, and the school's principal, Erin Kamradt, wrote in a letter obtained by WMAQ that the school is partnering with the CPS Crisis Management Unit and that school-based mental health professionals are available to support students and staff.
