The Coppa Italia semi-final first leg at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia finished goalless as Inter failed to impose themselves in a tense, tactical contest. Christian Chivu admitted his side were below par amid an injury crisis, noting they did not register a single shot on target and that he had been forced into changes.

'Every match we have some emergencies, I had to make some changes and for the first time I put two attacking midfielders behind the striker,' he said. 'We must make a virtue of necessity. But it wasn't an Inter match and it wasn't even pretty to watch.' Como boss Cesc Fabregas, by contrast, praised his team’s tactical discipline and felt they deserved a narrow victory.

'Chess match? It is what it is,' he said, adding that Como had been compact against 'the most dominant team in Serie A', created three opportunities and left with a satisfied but bittersweet feeling that 'it could have been 1-0.' Fabregas also reflected on the club’s progress ahead of the return leg at San Siro on April 22.
