Clair Obscur lead says AI isn't part of her writing workflow
Debate around AI often includes the claim that it "unlocks creatives to make bigger, better things." That idea frustrates some makers, who argue that creative arts like writing, drawing, painting, or acting are immensely complicated professions and that current AI feels more like an elaborate search than a creative partner.
"It is essentially multiple regressions with linear algebra and matrices and lots of data, which tickled my mathematical mind … but from a writing perspective, it is not really something that I find useful in my personal work. It's not something that is part of my workflow."
Sandfall Interactive's Clair Obscur faced criticism for using generative AI in production; the studio said the assets in question were "placeholder" textures. The controversy has added to wider concerns about AI use in concept art and placeholders, prompting some to favour simpler temporary solutions instead.
