Classic Half-Life mod Zombie Panic! lands on Steam with new features
Before Left 4 Dead, there was Zombie Panic! The Half-Life mod pitched groups of survivors against a single, player-controlled brain-muncher; anyone killed by the zombie rose as undead, slowly tipping the match until only one human remained. Zombie Panic! first appeared on ModDB in 2004 and was later followed by Zombie Panic!
Source, built on the Half-Life 2 engine. The original version has now joined Steam, a move the Zombie Panic Team says was prompted by Half-Life’s 25th anniversary update. The Steam release includes improved compatibility and full Steam Workshop support, plus cosmetic additions such as new player models, weapons and improved animations.
Maps have been reworked with better visuals and new locations, and mechanical changes include a fatigue system that penalizes overexertion and "Zombie vision" for undead players that highlights survivor locations. Hardcore mode from Zombie Panic! Source is integrated into the Steam version, introducing tougher zombies and a time limit for objectives.
