Co-founder says he has 'no regrets' after buying and relaunching Hytale
Pcgamer reports today marks one week since the early access release of Hytale, which original co‑founder Simon Collins‑Laflamme reacquired from Riot in November 2025 and helped relaunch two months later.
Collins‑Laflamme wrote on X: "It’s now been 7 days since early access launch and I can confidently say that I have no regrets saving Hytale, it’s been the most challenging but rewarding experience of my life," thanking the rebuilt team for getting the game to the finish line. He said he hadn’t been involved with development for many years and that returning was a big unknown and risk for him and his family.
The day before early access release Collins‑Laflamme said pre‑purchases had "officially secured the next two years of development costs," and at launch Hytale became the most‑watched game on Twitch with more than 420,000 viewers; modders are already active. The title remains notably in early access and is not on Steam, so concurrent player numbers are not available, and the reasons behind Riot’s original cancellation and studio closure remain unclear.
