Cobie Smulders on Growth, Risk, and Her Jason Segel Reunion for ‘Shrinking’

Cobie Smulders, who played Robin Scherbatsky for nine seasons on How I Met Your Mother, reunited with former co-star Jason Segel on Apple TV's Shrinking. Their dynamic has shifted from the platonic pals viewers saw on the CBS sitcom to romantic partners, yet the on-screen chemistry remains strong.

Smulders says the change reflects more life experience; she was 22 when How I Met Your Mother began and now approaches some scenes with greater emotional weight. She also noted that she and Segel know each other's lives well and that he is the cast member she turns to for advice.

Although her role does not appear in every episode, Smulders added she never felt like just a guest. The cast and crew made her feel included, and she found everyone kind and welcoming. Sofi first appeared in Season 2 when she sold a car to Jimmy, and Season 3 sees him trying to pursue the relationship.
