Cobie Smulders said she would play Maria Hill again "in a heartbeat" after the character was killed off in Secret Invasion. The 2023 series, Marvel's adaptation of the Secret Invasion event, earned the worst reviews of any MCU TV series, sitting at 53% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Smulders told MovieWeb she would love to play Maria Hill more, noting that Marvel has a "plethora of options of storylines" and that Maria is "a very small part of the world." She added, "I would play her again in a heartbeat. But if another Maria, a younger Maria Hill came around, go ahead.

I'd be excited for her." Currently a guest star on Apple TV's Shrinking, which also stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, Smulders said she and Ford have not traded Marvel stories: "Marvel didn't come up. No, we talked about a lot of things, but Marvel wasn't on the list." She also joked that a Maria Hill and Red Hulk spin-off is "the spin-off everybody's been looking for." The MCU's use of the multiverse and history of bringing performers back makes another appearance possible.
