Codemao tops global ranking of 350 edtech firms in 2025 list
Time and Statista’s second annual global ranking of the 350 top edtech companies for 2025 places Chinese firm Codemao at number one and highlights the continued importance of online learning. The 2025 list reviewed data from more than 7,000 companies and scored firms using a formula that combined financial strength and industry impact.
The U.S. supplied the most high-scoring companies with 138 (39.4% of the list), followed by India with 33 (9.4%) and China with 23 (6.6%), though companies from China took the top three positions. Codemao, founded in 2015, teaches coding visually and partnered with UNESCO in July 2024 to host the UNESCO/CODEMAO Africa Asia Youth Coding Initiative; “All students have potential and just need a chance to succeed,” Codemao co-founder Li Tianchi said in a statement.
Analysts say much of the sector is focused on integrating artificial intelligence. Glenda Morgan of Phil Hill & Associates says the Chinese government is “putting a lot of emphasis on AI,” adding that “students are starting out as young as six years old” and that “everyone is chasing AI.
