Colin and Penelope in Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 — married, Penelope still Lady Whistledown
Spoiler warning: this contains spoilers. According to MovieWeb, Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 shows Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) happily married and raising their baby son, Lord Elliot Featherington, while Penelope continues writing her gossip column as Lady Whistledown.
In Season 4, Episode 1, "The Waltz," Penelope visits the Queen (Golda Rosheuvel), who tells her she must keep the column going and that they will remain friends "as long as you bring me great gossip," prompting Penelope to prepare to continue her duties. The episode also centers on Lady Violet Bridgerton's masquerade ball, where Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek meet, giving Penelope plenty to write about.
MovieWeb notes Penelope still wrestles with feeling bad about gossiping — she has a moral compass — but is determined to make the Queen happy. Penelope also references news of the so-called "Maid Wars" in Mayfair as part of Season 4's social-season reporting. Penelope and Colin play a role in Francesca Bridgerton's arc.
In Episode 3, "The Field Next to the Other Road," the couple meet Francesca and Lord John Stirling at Guther's for ice cream after sharing a moment of passion on the drive over. Francesca admits she hasn't felt "the pinnacle," and by the end of the season she has honest conversations with her mother and husband and experiences growth around intimacy.
