College film project led to marriage for Casey DelBasso and Christopher Kelley
Casey Irene DelBasso and Christopher George Kelley, who met as film students at Fairfield University, were married in Newport, Rhode Island, in January 2026, with a legal ceremony on January 8 and a Catholic ceremony on January 10. The pair met on the first day of classes in September 2011 while both were film and television majors and remained platonic friends until a June 2013 student film project in York, Maine, when they became a couple.
Ms. DelBasso, 33, is a digital reporter at Good Morning America for ABC News and Mr. Kelley, 32, is a film editor at the Cabin Editing Company; both earned bachelors degrees in film and television. They moved to New York in 2015, lived separately at first and then together on the Upper East Side in September 2019.
The Covid-19 pandemic prompted a move to Astoria in July 2020 and brought strains that led Ms. DelBasso to tell Mr. Kelley 'We're growing apart' in September 2020. Mr. Kelley said the conversation was 'really hard to hear' but that 'losing her wasn't worth not doing the work,' and the couple addressed issues with nightly walks and more deliberate time together; they still live in Astoria with their terrier mix, Cannoli.
Mr. Kelley proposed on October 8, 2024 outside Grand Central Terminal with a vintage diamond ring, a date Ms.
