Community movie preserves full cast amid production delays
Peacock announced Community: The Movie and planned to begin production after the SAG and WGA strikes, but that shoot never started. Writer Andrew Guest said the film was "close to shooting" after the 2023 strikes, when one cast member’s conflict would have kept them from their intended role; rather than rewrite the script, the production was pushed so the full ensemble could be included.
The creative team has stressed that the study group is central to the project. Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Jeong, Jim Rash and Donald Glover are all expected to have substantial parts, and earlier seasons also featured Chevy Chase before his character was written out.
Glover’s Troy was sent off in Season 5 and Brown only appeared sparingly in Season 6, changes that left a void fans noted even as newcomers like Keith David and Paget Brewster helped the show finish strong.
