Connor Storrie, hosting Saturday Night Live, opens a Victorian-era, Bridgerton-coded sketch by committing a social slight against cast member Mikey Day.

Storrie casually implies — in front of Day’s beau and a gathering of tightly wound aristocrats — that Day is bad at croquet. The insult is met the period’s way: gentlemen slap each other senseless with gloves.

What starts as a dainty challenge quickly devolves into an increasingly unhinged exchange of theatrical glove-smacks, escalating in both volume and pettiness. Kenan Thompson then makes clear that while a light face tap may be tolerated, he absolutely does not.

After several people take unexpected right hooks, the dispute ends with honor restored and Storrie "beshatting" himself and conceding defeat. The sketch also draws notice for the makeup department’s aggressively committed sideburns.
