Console Gameplay for Crimson Desert Emerges, But Only on PS5 Pro
Crimson Desert launches next week on March 19. Despite the rising hype, console gameplay had not been seen until Digital Foundry released a video of the PS5 Pro port. Fans grew nervous after it emerged that reviews would not go live until 24 hours before launch and that reviewers would only have access to the PC port.
Digital Foundry found the game looks sharp across three visual modes—optimal, balanced and quality—with optimal focused on performance. Some PSSR upscaling artifacts can mar parts of the image, but DF is hopeful the final build will improve thanks to an upgraded PSSR used in Resident Evil Requiem.
All three modes generally hit their target framerates, including the 60FPS "optimal" option, though framerates can drop significantly during big battles; John Linneman said those moments are "not the norm at all." DF recommends PS5 Pro players use the 60FPS or 40FPS (balanced) modes, since the 30FPS quality mode felt less responsive.
