Conte seeks guarantees from De Laurentiis before committing to Napoli
Antonio Conte says he is ready to stay at Napoli but is asking president Aurelio De Laurentiis for guarantees. Moving forward together is possible but not inevitable; all the conditions for him to remain are in place, yet he wants reassurance about the club’s direction.
La Gazzetta dello Sport says Conte expects Napoli to stay competitive in Italy and Europe while getting their finances under control. Another transfer window spending over €150 million looks unlikely, and the club wants to reduce a wage bill that has risen to €160 million a year.
Napoli still have funds for targeted additions: with Hojlund and Alisson Santos set to arrive permanently, Conte believes only a few key signings will be needed rather than a full overhaul. Il Corriere dello Sport says Conte, De Laurentiis and sporting director Manna will meet before the end of the season, once Champions League qualification is secured.
