Copilot.cx unveils Copilot Star to let brands offer one smart‑home app
Copilot.cx has introduced Copilot Star, a framework that lets smart‑home manufacturers build a single branded mobile app to control devices across different platforms, ZDNET reported after a demo at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
Copilot Star is designed so users can access each brand’s platform through one app when they add new devices, removing the need to install multiple apps for different brands. The company says the framework can bring Matter‑certified smart lights, non‑Matter cameras, legacy sensors and thermostats that use other cloud services under a single branded app.
The system aims to consolidate various cloud systems, including Tuya, AWS IoT and proprietary stacks, which Copilot.cx says can result in faster product launches, lower app development costs and simpler hardware matching for manufacturers and retailers. "Smart‑home technology has accelerated, but fragmentation continues to limit growth," said Zvi Frank, Copilot.cx CEO, adding that the mission is to "democratize the smart home."
Copilot Star differs from Matter by focusing on a universal app framework rather than the connectivity standard: Matter defines how devices communicate across ecosystems, while Copilot Star helps brands build and ship mobile apps across those ecosystems. Copilot.cx is currently seeking partnerships and integrations for the framework.
