Polygon reports that Cosmic Princess Kaguya! has landed on Netflix, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is available on VOD, and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey joins Netflix. A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is a 1h 49m romantic fantasy directed by Kogonada and starring Margot Robbie, Colin Farrell and Kevin Kline; after meeting at a wedding, the pair share a scenic drive guided by a strange GPS that leads them through memories as they wrestle with starting a relationship.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, a 2h 22m anime musical from writer-director Shingo Yamashita starring Yūko Natsuyoshi and Anna Nagase, follows a moon-born girl taken in by high school student Iroha as they journey through a virtual world to compete in a livestreaming contest for a chance to collaborate with an AI idol.

From our review: the film’s beautiful scenarios and uplifting music make it entertaining, but the review said its narrative resolutions are underwhelming. Also newly available are HBO Max’s two-part documentary Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man! (3h 36m), directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio; Shudder’s horror Mother of Flies (1h 32m), about a terminally ill woman who undergoes death magic rituals in the woods; and the rental Savage Flowers (1h 38m).
