Counter-Strike 2 has a major update that changes reloading: when you reload, any ammo remaining in your current magazine is lost. Valve says reloading previously returned leftover rounds to an essentially endless reserve, removing meaningful trade-offs. A new HUD element — a small bar beneath the bullet count — now shows roughly how much ammo you've fired, and there's an added mag count.

Ammo capacities have been adjusted across weapons: most rifles gained rounds, while some pistols also saw increases. Notable decreases include the AWP and the M4A1‑S each losing 20 bullets. In total, seven weapons gained ammo, 16 lost ammo, and 12 remained unchanged.

Players reacted mostly negatively across Steam, X and the CS2 subreddit. 'As a chronic reloader I'm terrified,' wrote reimelcracker, while Kaka-carrot-cake added, 'we are fucked lmao.' One rare positive came from Amnizu: 'I'm fucked too but I love this change.
