Court TV, long known for bringing viewers into courtrooms for high-profile criminal and civil cases, will change hands. The E.W. Scripps Company reached a deal to sell the channel to the parent company of Law&Crime, which plans to expand Court TV’s streaming footprint.

Law&Crime, created by the legal analyst Dan Abrams, has more than eight million YouTube subscribers and offers live trials, commentary and crime documentaries. Court TV will remain on basic cable under a three-year distribution agreement with Scripps, though Mr.

Abrams said some programming could be available only on YouTube or other social platforms. The transaction was valued at under $125 million, people involved in the discussions said. Scripps, which owns 60 stations in more than 40 markets including ION and Bounce, has seen its shares fall about 95 percent over the past year as viewers cut the cord.
