Crew completes final preparations for station spacewalk
Tuesday brought the final preparations for tomorrow’s spacewalk, when two astronauts will exit the International Space Station to carry out a solar array upgrade. Jessica Meir and Chris Williams prepped their spacesuits and reviewed procedures; they will power on their suits tomorrow morning for a planned six-and-a-half-hour outing.
The pair will exit the Quest airlock to install a modification kit and route cables on the station’s port side. It will be Meir’s fourth spacewalk and Williams’ first. Meir and Williams finalized the configuration of tools they’ll use in the vacuum of space, then joined Jack Hathaway and Sophie Adenot to review procedural timelines and checklists.
Hathaway and Adenot completed a round of camera and lighting training and inspected and cleaned the orbital complex’s ventilation system.
