Crime 101 Overtakes Drive's Domestic Box Office
The weekend box office had two dominant stories: Scream 7 became the top-grossing installment of its three-decade franchise, and Hamnet passed $100 million worldwide as star Jessie Buckley won an Academy Award. Pixar's Hoppers returned to the top of the domestic chart, and the Colleen Hoover adaptation Reminders of Him completed a hat-trick of hits.
A less-celebrated milestone came when Chris Hemsworth's neo-noir Crime 101 surpassed the domestic lifetime gross of Ryan Gosling's Drive. Crime 101 has earned over $35 million domestically and more than $65 million worldwide since its February 13 release, and holds an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite strong reviews, it is struggling to recoup its reported $90 million budget and is likely to fall short, a setback for Hemsworth and co-stars Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan and Halle Berry.
