Fans of Black Desert Online have been waiting more than six years for its single-player successor, Crimson Desert. Developer Pearl Abyss has added an option to play cutscenes and spoken dialogue at 2X speed without skipping scenes entirely. YouTuber Jake Lucky shared a post on X showing the feature in action: the dialogue is clearly sped up but remains intelligible, preserving essential information in a more concise form.

That makes the option useful for retracing steps or for players with limited time. The feature may also appeal to viewers used to sped-up content on platforms like TikTok, which offers a simple 2X playback gesture; Instagram introduced a similar option in March 2025.

Few games let players change spoken and written dialogue speed on the fly, though Final Fantasy 7 Remake added 1.5X and 2X cutscene speeds in a December 2024 update. Some commenters objected to trimming dialogue in an RPG, but the setting is optional.
