Crimson Desert faces criticism after players find likely AI art

Crimson Desert has become the latest game to attract attention after players noticed what appear to be AI-generated visual assets and raised the issue on Reddit.

Pearl Abyss posted a statement on X acknowledging that some 2D visual props were created during early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools. The developer said those assets were used to rapidly explore tone and atmosphere in earlier phases of production.

The studio added that its intention "has always been for any such assets to be replaced, following final work and review by our art and development teams, with work that aligned with our quality standards and creative direction."
