Cristiano Ronaldo blamed for Rodrygo’s biggest regret
Rodrygo says his biggest regret in football is never getting to play with Cristiano Ronaldo. He called Ronaldo his "role model" and explained that timing robbed him of the chance: his move to Spain was confirmed the summer Cristiano left for Juventus, but had to wait 12 months until he turned 18, by which point Ronaldo was already gone.
"I wanted to play with Cristiano Ronaldo, but it didn’t happen. It’s a shame as he’s my role model. I have always looked up to him." Ronaldo spent nine years at Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018, scoring 450 goals and helping the club to two La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns.
Rodrygo was eased into the Madrid setup with the task of following in those footsteps and has reached double figures in goals across the last three seasons. Now 25, he forms part of an attack that also includes Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe. The current campaign has been hampered by injuries and a Champions League suspension.
