Cristiano Ronaldo enjoys water sports with family in Madeira

Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, returned to the island of Madeira with his fiancee Georgina Rodriguez and their children to escape top-level competition, naming the corner of the Atlantic their favourite vacation spot for 2026. A viral video shows the footballer laughing as he slides down a balloon slide, drives a car over the sea and rides a jetfoiler - a surfboard that flies above the water.

For Ronaldo the trip is also a return to his roots in the Santo Antonio neighbourhood of Funchal. The footballer himself has repeatedly reflected on the hardships of his youth, saying "We had no money, life wasn't easy back then in Madeira." Ronaldo was absent from the Portugal squad during the international break after being left out of the latest selection for friendlies against Mexico and the United States.
