Cristiano Ronaldo sidelined by hamstring injury as Al-Nassr confirm setback
Cristiano Ronaldo has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury after Al-Nassr’s match with Al-Fayha, the club confirmed. He was forced off late in the game in visible discomfort and has started a rehabilitation program; the club said he will be evaluated day by day and did not provide a return date.
The problem arose in the closing stages of the February 28 clash. Ronaldo had missed a penalty in the 12th minute and was replaced by Abdullah Al-Hamdan in the 81st minute after signalling to the bench. As the division’s leading scorer with 21 goals, he is now a doubt for upcoming league matches against Neom SC and Al-Khaleej and for Portugal’s friendlies with Mexico and the USMNT later this month.
Flight-tracking data showed his private jet departed Saudi Arabia for Madrid in the middle of the night after a drone attack on the U.S. embassy in Riyadh, prompting questions about whether he has sought safety in Europe with Georgina Rodriguez and their five children.
