Critical Role Campaign 4 has a flaw in its table structure
After a week away, Critical Role returned with a new arc: the Seekers have finished their run, and the Schemers will soon take over in the city of Dol-Makjar. Cooldown episode 17, available to Beacon members, confirmed the switch. Spoiler warning: this article discusses the Soldiers and Seekers arcs.
Before Campaign 4 began, the 13-player cast spent a four-episode overture introducing the plot, characters and cast, then split into three tables: Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers. Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan described the Soldiers as players "interested in a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where the nonviolent answers were few and far between." The Seekers lean into classical fantasy and deep explorations of lore and cosmology, while the Schemers focus on intrigue, espionage and the machinations of power.
