Critical Role Star Officially Confirms Campaign 4 Crossover Episodes [Exclusive]

Sam Riegel told an Awesome Con panel moderated by Maggie Lovitt that some of Campaign 4’s most technically ambitious crossover episodes have already been filmed. "We just shot those episodes last fall. We’ll see you in a few months," he said when asked about how the production handles moments when different groups encounter each other.

Campaign 4 takes a different approach from previous seasons by following multiple adventuring parties within the same world. The series divides the cast into three separate groups, which has allowed it to focus more closely on individual character arcs and to expand worldbuilding, helped by Brennan Lee Mulligan serving as Dungeon Master.

Bringing those parties together proved a complicated production task. Riegel described the experience as a "technical challenge," and his remarks suggest the crossover shoots were as chaotic and ambitious behind the scenes as fans might expect.
