Earlier this week, Critical Role shared that the cast's long rests would be a little different in Campaign 4. Usually the cast takes the last Thursday of the month off from their main campaign to have a break before returning the week after, and sometimes a sponsored one-shot or talk show fills the slot.

"Instead of a set last-Thursday-of-the-month break, we’ll be laying down our dice wherever the story finds a natural pause," Critical Role shared on their official blog. "We’ll also be taking time off around special holidays here in the States!" Campaign 4 has a rotating cast of 13 players, divided into three tables: Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers.

With the West Marches format, each table takes its turn in the limelight for a handful of episodes before switching to the next. A company representative said there is "no set cadence for when these breaks will happen or how many episodes each table will receive." The change represents a major shift in how Critical Role manages breaks, and it's for the better.
