Crypto super PAC targets Texas Democrat Al Green

A crypto-backed super PAC plans to spend $1.5 million against Representative Al Green of Texas in next month’s Democratic primary. Green, an 11-term member whose Houston-area district was upended by redistricting, sits on the House Financial Services Committee and is running against Representative Christian Menefee, who won a special election late last month for the redrawn 18th District.

The super PAC is part of Fairshake, the industry’s main political organization, which began the year armed with $193 million and is mounting a new push after 2024 spending that helped elect a more pro-crypto Congress and produced crypto-friendly legislation signed by President Trump.

Josh Vlasto, a Fairshake spokesman, said, “As a member of the Financial Services Committee, Representative Al Green has decided to try and stop American innovation in its tracks.
