Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss demo turns detective work into tense exploration
Two red dots loom through inky green depths as I emerge from a cramped undersea tunnel into a wide, low-visibility expanse. Alone in a diving suit with only an AI voice for company, I follow pipes toward an abandoned underwater research facility and feel the persistent sense that something might be lurking just out of sight in the Lovecraftian atmosphere Big Bad Wolf Studio has built.
The demo frames play as detective-style investigation. Playing Noah, an agent probing the paranormal, I handle clues in first person—picking items up, rotating and scanning them, and arranging evidence on a board. A sonar system helps cut through clutter: flagging a rock’s "mineral" signature turns matching objects into temporary markers, while documents narrow down which items fit an altar puzzle in a half-flooded, near-future house where climate change has left the sea ever-present.
