Cyberpunk trading card game Kickstarter raises $8.3M in 24 hours
CD Projekt Red and WeirdCo launched a Kickstarter for The Official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game on Tuesday at 12 p.m. EDT and reached their $100,000 goal in five minutes. Within hours the campaign added a banner calling it the most-funded trading card game in Kickstarter history.
As of this writing the campaign has raised more than $8.3 million from over 10,000 backers, with 30 days remaining. Nearly every stretch goal is unlocked and the final $10 million tier could fall within days—or hours. WeirdCo posted updates as pledges surged: “Hey chooms, we did it,” and, less than an hour after launch, “You gonks are crazy.
We already broke our $3 million stretch goal!” Elliot Cook, WeirdCo co-founder and president, called the response “nothing short of amazing” and said becoming the largest TCG in crowdfunding history in under 12 hours signals that fans are ready to build something with WeirdCo.
