Dakota Johnson's Intimate R-Rated Hit Secures New Streaming Home Next Month

Daddio, an intimate R-rated film starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, arrives on Hulu beginning Apr. 26. The movie received a wide release in 2024 and earned a Certified Fresh 75% on Rotten Tomatoes along with an 89% audience score. Written and directed by Christy Hall in her feature debut, it follows a New York City cab driver who picks up Johnson's character at JFK and the conversations they share while returning to her Manhattan apartment.

Johnson holds her own opposite Penn, who is described as the film's most charismatic character. The dialogue is sharp and the themes—relationships, sex, loss and love—connect with viewers. At 101 minutes, the film is an emotional journey that rewards those willing to stick with it.

The R rating reflects mature themes, explicit text conversations and brief, graphic nudity. At one point Fanning shares photos of her exposed breasts and another scene shows an erect penis.
