Dandân Secret Lair sold out in minutes, now reselling for $300
The latest Secret Lair Chaos Vault drop — an 80-card Dandân deck with 46 borderless foil cards and 34 cards in classic retro frames — went on sale Monday at 12 p.m. EDT for $99 and sold out within 27 minutes. The Dandân format, which has two players sharing a single deck, was pioneered by Nick Floyd around 1996 and centers on the Dandân fish from the Arabian Nights expansion.
Within about another half-hour, listings appeared on TCG Player and other retailers priced at more than double the sale price. The current market rate based on listings is $242.40, and multiple eBay listings are asking $300. It’s unclear how many decks were sold from the Secret Lair shop, but close to 100 resale listings have since appeared.
Bots and scalpers have long been a controversy for Secret Lair drops. Secret Lair senior director Lindsey Bartell addressed the issue on a Weekly MTG episode, saying she wants everyone to get what they want and that she never wants items to sell out before the queue is cleared.
