A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms closed its first season with a funeral and the aftermath of the Trial of Seven. After six weeks at the tourney at Ashford Meadow, Dunk and Egg move on; with Baelor Targaryen dead, Lyonel Baratheon offers Dunk a chance to return to Storm's End, exposing Dunk's guilt and Lyonel's deep disdain for the Targaryens.

Daniel Ings said he leaned into Lyonel's bombastic, in-your-face energy. He described how dancing moved from an ironic affectation to something he embraced, and joked that while he is "a horrible singer," the character's key trait is not caring whether the performance is technically good.

On set, Ings praised young co-star Dexter Sol Ansell as "incredibly clever and switched-on," remembering a celebration where Dexter banged his head and how the cast instinctively protected him. He also credited the stunt team for the demanding physical work in sequences like the Trial of Seven.
