Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman to announce 98th Academy Awards nominations
Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman will announce the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences headquarters in Beverly Hills at 8:30 a.m. Eastern on Thursday.
A live feed from the academy’s headquarters will be shown on ABC, Disney+, TikTok and YouTube, among other platforms.
The Oscars ceremony is scheduled for March 15 and will be broadcast by ABC and Hulu. Conan O’Brien will reprise his hosting duties; he received high marks as the M.C. of the 97th telecast, which delivered a five-year ratings high for ABC with about 19.7 million viewers, up from 19.5 million. As recently as 2019, the Oscars drew about 30 million viewers.
The academy has expanded its competitive categories so that casting directors (up to two per film) will be eligible for a trophy — the first new competitive category since animated film was added in 2001. The change probably means the telecast will get even longer; last year’s show ran three hours and 50 minutes. The academy plans to move the Oscars to YouTube starting in 2029, ending a run on ABC that began in 1976. This is a developing story.
