Cbssports reports that Dante Moore announced he is returning to Oregon on a Wednesday afternoon, erasing what had been the New York Jets' clearest path to a franchise quarterback. The Jets finished the 2025 season 3-14, the same record as the Raiders and Cardinals, but Las Vegas earned the No.

1 overall pick because strength of schedule is the first tiebreaker after record; that makes it likely Indiana's Fernando Mendoza will head to Las Vegas and leaves New York with the No. 2 pick. The franchise's quarterback instability is well documented: the team last had a winning record in 2015 and hasn't reached the playoffs since 2010.

Since 2016 the Jets have never won more than seven games, and 10 different quarterbacks have started at least seven games in that span, including Sam Darnold (38), Zach Wilson (33), Aaron Rodgers (18), Ryan Fitzpatrick (27), Justin Fields (9), Josh McCown (16), Joe Flacco (9), Brady Cook (8), Mike White (7) and Bryce Petty (7).
