Daryl Hannah slams 'Love Story' portrayal in New York Times essay
Daryl Hannah wrote a scathing essay for the New York Times criticizing the Ryan Murphy-produced series Love Story, which dramatizes her romance with John F. Kennedy Jr. She said the show features a character using her name but presenting a version of her that is not true; Dree Hemingway plays Hannah, while Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon portray Kennedy Jr.
and Carolyn Bessette. “I have long believed that engaging with distortion often amplifies it,” Hannah opened, adding that “the choice to portray her as irritating, self-absorbed, whiny and inappropriate was no accident.” She insisted the series “isn’t a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John,” accused it of “textbook misogyny” and disputed a number of plot points.
