Davon Holloman charged after father Jimmy Chase allegedly stabbed while teaching 3 sons
A New Jersey father, 40-year-old Jimmy Chase, was allegedly stabbed to death on Jan. 8 while teaching his three young sons to ride bikes, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said. Authorities announced charges Wednesday against 35-year-old Davon Holloman in connection with the incident.
Prosecutors said Holloman has been charged with first-degree murder, third- and fourth-degree weapons offenses and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the third degree.
The office said most of the altercation was captured on a cell phone video and that Chase’s “three small children can be seen trying to break up the fight.” Officials identified Chase as the father of Holloman’s girlfriend’s children.
Chase’s sister, Latoya Chase, called the killing “senseless” in a GoFundMe she set up to help the family, saying her brother was attacked while teaching his sons to ride bicycles and that the family is devastated.
Mercer County officials said Holloman was arrested and charged on Jan. 22. The prosecutor’s office said the investigation is ongoing and that Holloman remains in custody.
