Dax Shepard says Cher's 'deserves better' remark about Kristen Bell was 'hysterical'
People reports Dax Shepard responded to comments Cher made on the Jan. 5 episode of his Armchair Expert podcast while speaking to Access Hollywood at the 2026 Golden Globes.
On the episode, Cher told Shepard that his wife, Kristen Bell, "deserves better," a remark Shepard said was made in jest. "I think we both expected that," he told Access Hollywood, adding, "That's why you love Cher, which couldn't be greater." Co-host Monica Padman urged listeners to hear the full conversation, saying "there was a couple big headlines, but people need to go listen to the whole thing because everything she [Cher] says is perfect," and Shepard later said, "We thought it was hysterical."
During the podcast, Shepard asked Cher whom she might imagine as a "dream partner" for Bell; Cher said she couldn't think of anyone and added, "The truth is, I trust her. So you must have something that I don't see." The pair met while costarring in 2010's Burlesque; Bell and Shepard became engaged that year and married in 2013, and they share daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11. Armchair Expert was nominated for the first Golden Globe for Best Podcast but lost to Good Hang with Amy Poehler.
