Dax Shepard misses SAG Awards for colonoscopy, praises wife Kristen Bell

Dax Shepard said he missed the 2026 SAG Actor Awards because he was scheduled for a colonoscopy, posting an Instagram Story earlier Sunday that included a screenshot of a text exchange and the hashtag “#colonoscopyprep.” He was not seen on the red carpet or during his wife Kristen Bell’s opening monologue.

The screenshot contained detailed prep instructions — clear liquids until 8 a.m., then water only until 10 a.m., and nothing by mouth with an 11:15 a.m. arrival — and Shepard replied that he was “eating a steak smothered in seeds and nuts.” Shepard still posted a supportive Instagram message for Bell ahead of the show, praising her charm and wit.

Bell opened the evening at the Shrine Auditorium with a monologue that included a cheeky song about Hollywood stage names; on the red carpet she said hosting is “not roasting” and that if she roasted anyone “it’s going to be me.” She wore a see-through beaded purple gown by Georges Hobeika.
