Dean Huijsen apologises on Weibo after sharing offensive post

Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen has apologised after sharing an Instagram post that included derogatory comments about an Asian person. The 20-year-old Spain international removed the image from his profile following immediate backlash. He issued a formal statement on Real Madrid’s official Weibo account, addressing followers in East Asia.

"I sincerely apologize to my Chinese friends," the message said, adding that he had "previously forwarded content that included offensive messages unintentionally" and that he regretted the distress caused. The post appeared on a platform with more than 582 million monthly active users.
