Debate: Which game series is the most popular to cosplay?

It's Saturday morning, you've just arrived at a convention, and a huge crowd of excited cosplayers greets you. I often find it hard to pick out specific characters amid the mix of film, anime, TV and video game costumes; lots of people simply look 'dressed cool' rather than instantly identifiable.

Welcome to Character Select, a weekly column where PC Gamer looks at cosplay and fan art. Each week I spotlight favourite pieces, interview creators, and celebrate the talents of the gaming community. This column made me wonder which game series gets cosplayed the most.

Trends shift with what's popular and what’s on event schedules, but some titles are fallback options. For me the prize goes to Genshin Impact: its sheer number of characters means there's almost always someone matching a desired aesthetic, and I’ve even seen a Primogem cosplay.
